Chief Information Officer

Callum has been involved in the innovation and technology sector for more than 20 years. He has a passion for solving today’s business challenges through innovative solutions, strong governance frameworks, and empowering people. This passion comes from the endless potential that is evident when people and technology come together with the freedom to innovate.

He joined Emerge Aotearoa as Group Chief Information Officer in 2023 after spending eight years in the agri sector at Farmlands Co-operative Society Limited, where he played a pivotal role in the cooperative’s digital transformation holding various senior leadership roles, in technology operations, security, architecture, and delivery. Prior to this, he worked in grocery, hospitality, and security sectors in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom as a technology consultant and architect.

During this time, Callum worked on one of the largest business transformation programmes of its kind in New Zealand, Braveheart (2016-2019), a 90-million-dollar investment delivered in partnership with Microsoft provided the coop with the required business and digital agility it needed to combat the challenges of the Agri sector.  In July 2022, Callum completed a Master of Technological Futures through Auckland’s learning programme academyEX, where he investigated financial instruments to help farmers adapt to environmental sustainability requirements.

Callum’s experience is helping to shape the way Emerge Aotearoa uses technology to better support communities and to tackle the digital divide. “The opportunities businesses can take advantage of nowadays is amazing,” he says. “Technology enables us to find better ways of working and supporting our communities. It should be something that helps the people we work alongside and serve each day.”
