Simon is a skilled facilitator, director and social change leader convinced that traditional ways of working in social, community and health care will not deliver the transformative change needed to disrupt entrenched challenges. He was the founder and leader of Aotearoa social innovation agency, Innovate Change which brought the lived experience of people's lives to the heart of care and policy using the methods and tools of design and social innovation. In 2018, Innovate Change merged with Innovation Unit, and Simon maintains connection to the work as a Senior Associate. Simon has held senior leadership and commissioning roles with the NZ AIDS Foundation, a central London primary care trust, and the Hutt Valley District Health Board. Trained in social work, he has managed primary and youth health services and worked as a clinician alongside young people and families.
