Need a safe and temporary place to stay? We provide Transitional Housing accommodation and support, across Aotearoa. All referrals are received from the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) after being assessed as being eligible for Transitional Housing.
We also provide support to whānau who are living in emergency housing. MSD provides a Special Needs Grant that pays for short-term motel accommodation, for up to seven days at a time. All referrals for Emergency Housing Navigation are processed by MSD, speak to your MSD case manager about a possible referral.
When in this service, a Housing Navigator will work with whānau to look at what obstacles they may be facing in securing a permanent home and how they can overcome them. We provide support and advocacy with social housing applications, private rental searching, and work with whānau to identify what type of support they require and making a plan that is suitable to their needs. This plan can include: budgeting advice, rent arrears and debt support, referrals to other Service Providers, home maintenance support, referrals for mental health and addiction support, advocacy and conflict resolution – all with the goal of helping whānau obtain long term housing.
