Maintaining or managing the household can be stressful and quickly become overwhelming. Sustaining Tenancies is a service that provides practical support to help whānau retain their tenancies. We work alongside both landlords and at-risk tenants to remedy tenancy issues with the aim of strengthening communities and reducing pathways to homelessness.
We work with whānau to identify what type of support they require, making a plan that’s suitable to their needs, and respecting their rights as a tenant with autonomy. Support might look like: budgeting advice, rent arrears and debt support, referrals to other Service Providers, home maintenance support, referrals for mental health and addiction support, advocacy and conflict resolution – all with the goal of helping whānau remain in their homes.
This service is available in Auckland, Hamilton, Hawke’s Bay, Masterton, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill.
We accept referrals from all sources such as tenants (self-referrals), whānau, property managers, landlords and support agencies. So, if you or someone you know might benefit from our Sustaining Tenancies service, make a referral by contacting us here.
