Emerge Aotearoa offers a variety of community-based services that provide flexible, mobile support for individuals with mental illness or disabilities living independently. These services help people stay actively involved with their family, whānau, and community, access skills training, and gain employment.
Our goal is to support individuals and groups and enable them with skills needed to make positive changes in their lives and communities. We coordinate between people, their families, the community, and resources to provide comprehensive support. We will:
- Ensure people are supported by a qualified and experienced team member
- Focus on recovery and strengths
- Ensure those people supported are central to the decision-making process regarding all aspects of their recovery
- Encourage people to become involved in the wider community, including supports with educational, vocational, employment and recreational opportunities
- Provide support with goal setting, development of life skills, creativity, educational and employment opportunities, relationship skills and communication strategies.
Our services are individualised, encouraging personal responsibility and planning to meet specific needs, such as budgeting, obtaining a driver’s license, or finding volunteer work.
All our services are free and available to people of all ages experiencing mental health issues or disabilities. Some services are tailored specifically for youth or adults. Referrals can be made through your local District Health Board, ACC, or, in some regions, through self-referral. Contact us for more information about our specific services.
