Whāriki is a peer-run community-based service offering various kinds of support for people in the South Auckland area:

Peer: our Peer Support team run programmes that are designed to enhance and support recovery. We also walk alongside you in exploring mental health and wellbeing pathways through one-on-one support.

Family/Whānau: we work directly with families of loved ones experiencing mental health and/or addiction challenges.

Day Programme: Whāriki provides education programmes, advocacy, life skills and activities both in-person and online. All of our programmes are provided at no cost to you.

See below for eligibility criteria and to register.

While our programme timetable changes across the year, here is some of what we have to offer:

Wellness Group: When we become unwell, our wellness can be the first thing we struggle to reclaim. We’ll take you through some simple and safe strategies that will help you in all areas of your life.

Car Licence Theory: This is foundational online learning to help prepare you for sitting your learner licence. We cover the Road Code as well as some real world experience from our facilitators. Please note: associated costs with sitting your license are excluded and ensuring you’re medically fit and eligible to hold a licence is your responsibility.

Hearing Voices Support Group: For those of us who struggle with visual and audio disturbances, this group aims to provide you with support, help you develop and discuss tools and provides social contact in a safe environment.

Digital Photography: Get creative and make the most of the device you have available to you, whether that’s a phone, tablet, or digital camera. Learn the basics of composition, light and image-editing.

Food for Thought: One of our most popular programmes, Food for Thought is about exploring the connection between what we eat, how we feel and the benefits of eating well for our physical and mental health. Discover a variety of recipes and cooking methods. Please let the team know in advance if you have any allergies or specific dietary requirements.

Craft Group: Each term we offer a variety of crafty activities ranging from sewing, home remedies, painting, jam making, weaving or similar. Inspired by the season and special events, we’ll get you creating in an inviting and friendly environment.

W.R.A.P. (Wellness Recovery Action Plan): This is an opportunity to help you develop your own Recovery Plan as we walk alongside you on this journey to wellness. Learn more about Triggers, Early Warning Signs, Crisis Planning and more.

Gold Coin Coffee Group: Join us at a community venue to enjoy good coffee and fantastic korero/conversation.  Bring a Gold Coin and some conversation starters.  We’ll be exploring a new venue each term so be sure to include your contact details in the registration

Gardening Group: Join us for some earthy healing. We knock back the weeds and prep our grounds for one of the best garden experiences ever. This programme is weather dependent and usually offered in Terms 1, 2 and 4.

Peer Recovery Support Group: Join our social sharing group that’s aimed to support and challenge peers to be the best we can be in our own recovery journey. This programme can offer emotional, social and practical support that helps in maintaining wellness.

Walking Group: This is a social group activity where we explore the quiet street of Papatoetoe. Join us to get those all-important steps up, boost the bood flow and keep fit in the best way possible. This programme is weather dependent and usually offered in Terms 1, 2 and 4.

Registration Info:
