Mind and Body is a for-peer-by-peer organisation. All Mind & Body staff have lived experience of mental distress or addiction, providing an empathy and understanding of what people may be experiencing. The guiding principle of all Mind & Body services is that every person is capable of flourishing in life.
Our areas of expertise are mental health peer support; initiatives involving social inclusion and de-stigmatisation; mental health education programmes and independent peer advocacy for people with mental health issues and addictions.
We are currently contracted to the health and disability sector by Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand (Auckland, Waitemata, Capital & Coast and Canterbury), and the Ministry of Health, to deliver various mental health related services. Mind & Body is also responsible for Rethink which delivers the nationwide Like Minds, Like Mine programme. The programme aims to increase social inclusion and reduce discrimination towards people who have experienced mental illness or distress.
